Trip to SOM
On our trip to SOM, we learned about architecture in the workplace. We saw how many different factors impact the façade, cost and height of the building. We were taught about the steps to designing and contrasting a functional building. In addition, we learned about recent buildings that SOM designed such as the World Trade Center in New York, the NATO Headquarters in Brussels, and Burj Khalifa in Dubai. As a student who is applying to be an architect major this fall, I thought it was very cool to see the architecture process in the workplace. I liked seeing the models that they built and learning about the programs they use to design structures.
